Consultation on Lewes District Local Plan Part 2

Lewes District Council is preparing the ‘Lewes District Local Plan Part 2’ which, when adopted, will allocate specific sites for development and provide detailed development management policies. This document is needed to support and help deliver the strategic objectives and spatial strategy of the Lewes District Local Plan Part 1: Joint Core Strategy, adopted in 2016.

Mobile Library Schedule

PLEASE NOTE: East Sussex County Council is currently consulting on its draft Strategy East Sussex Libraries – The Way Forward. The draft Strategy sets out a proposal to withdraw the Mobile Library Service as part of wider proposals to provide a modern, sustainable library service for the future. Following the current public consultation, the County Council’s Cabinet is expected to consider an amended Strategy in March 2018. If any revisions to the Mobile Library schedule are necessary following this, we will issue an amended schedule.

The way you recycle is changing

Lewes District Council is making it easier for all residents to recycle by introducing a single wheelie bin for the paper, cans, plastics, cardboard and glass that people currently sort into two plastic boxes and two bags.

A FREE SERVICE BROUGHT TO NEWICK

East Sussex Hearing Resource Centre is a registered charity working in partnership with Adult Social Care to provide a no charge mobile information and advice service for Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people living in East Sussex. The vehicle is equipped to offer demonstrations of assistive equipment and hearing screening tests.

An Update on Development Issues in Newick, August 2017

At the start of 2017, Newick was in some turmoil over the Secretary of State’s (SoS) decision to allow outline planning permission for 50 dwellings to be built at Mitchelswood Farm for planning consultants David Lock Associates (DLA) and the owners of the land. This plot was not chosen by the residents of Newick for the Neighbourhood Plan (NP), in fact it was found to be the least suitable site.
