Lewes District Local Development Framework – Emerging Core Strategy
Lewes District Council, in partnership with the South Downs National Park Authority, is preparing a Core Strategy. This is the key part of the Local Development Framework for Lewes District, a collection of planning documents that will replace the Lewes District Local Plan (2003).
The Core Strategy will set out the strategic planning policies for Lewes District for the period to 2030. It will set the context for all future planning documents forming part of the Local Development Framework and be used in the determination of planning applications.
As part of the process of preparing the Core Strategy, we have published the Emerging Core Strategy for consultation. The Emerging Core Strategy sets out options for planning policies and locations for new development. At this stage we are seeking comments on the suitability of the options.
The consultation lasts between 30 September 2011 and 11 November 2011. All comments must be made in writing, preferably via email to email@example.com. Alternatively, they can be sent via post to the Planning Policy Team, Southover House, Southover Road, Lewes, BN7 1AB or by fax to 01273 484452. Please note that as this is a public document, comments received during consultation will be made public.
The Emerging Core Strategy is available to view on the Council’s website at www.lewes.gov.uk/corestrategy and also at all libraries within the District and the Planning Services Information Office in Southover House (address above). It has taken into account responses received from last year’s consultation on the Core Strategy Issues and Emerging Options Topic Papers. Details of this are available in a summary document on the same webpage.
The document has also been informed by background documents. These documents cover a number of different topics and can be found on our website at www.lewes.gov.uk/planning/backgroundreps.asp.
We recognise that formal approval from your Council may be needed prior to the submission of your response to this consultation. If the relevant Council meeting is scheduled after the consultation period, please inform us in advance so that we can make arrangements to accept your comments at a later date. In such cases, we require submission of draft comments by 11 November 2011, followed by your formal response at the earliest opportunity afterwards.
If you have any queries about the preparation of the Core Strategy, do not hesitate to contact us, either by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephoning (01273) 484417.
