There is a vehicle & driver that may be involved - the registration of the vehicle is believed to be P496 DTO, a green astra. The driver,a white male is about 5'9, of stocky build & is 41 years old. If seen driving around then please inform the police on the 0845 police number. If seen going into peoples drives on their properties then a call in on 999 would be appropriate.

VILLAGE INFORMATION POINT at NEWICK COMMUNITY CENTRE OPENING HOURS are Monday morning – 11am to 1pm Thursday evening - 6pm to 8pm June – 14th / 17th/ 21st / 28th July - 1st / 5th / 8th /12th/15th/19th//26th/29th August – 2nd / 5th Drop in for a coffee - find out about local issues and events, clubs and societies, information on housing, health and transport – and any other subject you would like to be included. This is a great opportunity to centralise and share information – if it is well supported, more dates will be confirmed. What is behind this Information Centre? What is this Rural access to services Programme [RASP]? Action in rural Sussex [AirS] is managing a new project intended to test ideas for improving access to services by people who live, work or visit rural parts of East Sussex. The programme has a number of strands. It is funded by SEEDA and has been developed by the East Sussex Rural Partnership. A major element of the programme will involve working with a range of communities on projects to explore the feasibility of different approaches to service delivery, which improves access to services for local people. Research for the programme has identified Newick as one community where there are gaps in services or long distances required to travel to them. What kind of services are we talking about ? Services can be widely defined, but would include Personal health and social support - medical, dental, social care, personal advice, hairdressing, chiropody Community services – recycling, Business, jobs and skills services – those which provide support to businesses, advice about careers, banking services, food sales Transport and communication services – buses, trains, community transport, online communication Once there is a better understanding of the service needs in Newick the intention is that ongoing support will be provided to facilitate further discussions with service providers, and to potentially develop any facilities or projects required. This might include looking at making physical improvements to community facilities, bringing in new equipment or developing new social enterprises as well as establishing good information access for people in the village. Alternatively or additionally, it might involve working to improve transport, possibly through community transport initiatives or other schemes. Developing access to information Finding a good way to get information across about what services are available is an essential part of improving access to services, as many people don’t know what services are available, or who is the best person to ask. Additionally they may not be confident to enquire. Development of information will be one element of the work in Newick. This will link to another part of this programme where a selected number of Parish Councils will be developing village information points.
